Why do we have to recycle?

E-waste is the only growing waste stream in Canada, and in Quebec alone it sells more than 680,000 computers a year. In addition, all cell phones, printers, televisions, scanners and other electronic objects, totaling more than 50,000 tons of electronic waste annually. This number will only increase as the lifespan of electronic devices decreases each year. On average, individuals and companies will change their equipment after 3 and a half years of use, because it will be obsolete and because it would cost more to repair or upgrade it.

Although the use of computer and electronic equipment is safe for our health, the same is not true for the environment. Several toxic substances are found in these facilities, such as lead, cadmium and mercury, which when buried or incinerated, will contaminate soil and air. Most of our customers now turn to us to give their old computers a second life, while avoiding fattening landfills.

RECYCLING BATTERIES

Did you know that more than 120 million batteries are consumed in Quebec each year and only 6% are recovered. So 94% of the batteries go directly to the trash which has the effect of adding 4000 tons of heavy metals to our dumps annually. However, the presence of these metals is not inconsequential, it creates pollution of the soil and the water table without forgetting that they are often carcinogenic and can lead to serious health problems.

Batteries and batteries contain heavy metals (mercury, zinc, lead, cadmium) in large quantities. It only takes one mercury battery thrown into the wild to contaminate 1m3 of earth and 1000 m3 of water for 50 years! The batteries are easily recyclable: from a ton of battery, up to 600 kg of reusable materials (ferromanganese for the manufacture of steel, zinc, slag for B.T.P. and mercury) are extracted.

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PRODUCTS?

Collection

Through collection, we contribute substantially to the protection of the environment and to the fight against the premature re-employment of electronic equipment that can have a second life.

Each of your computer lots will then be taken care of by our teams of dismantlers who will establish a weighing and counting of your products. We will be responsible for distribution in various industries that specialize in the recycling of metals, glass, plastics and many others. We are rigorous in selecting our subcontractors, ensuring that the waste is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

Destruction of data

Info Liquidation Recycle is committed to respecting the security and confidentiality of your data.

For example, we destroy all hard drive data using software that incorporates powerful algorithms that meet the standards of the RCMP, NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense. If, however, the hard drives are incomplete, the most effective solution is the complete physical destruction of the discs. A certificate of destruction may be issued at your request.
